Sportsbook operator Circa Sports announced last week that it is ahead of schedule to get its sportsbook facility up and running in Las Vegas, with the recent shutdown of the industry actually helping to advance the project.

The Circa Las Vegas resort will be the flagship sportsbook for the operator and was set to be completed by December this year. However, it has been announced that parts of the resort, including the sportsbook, will be open by the end of October.

Derek Stevens, the owner of Circa Las Vegas, confirmed that not all parts of the resort will be ready in October. However, the sportsbook facility, which will be a huge one that spans three floors in Downtown Las Vegas, will be up and running.

The sportsbook is scheduled to open on October 28th. Once it is open, the three-storey sportsbook will become the biggest facility in the industry.

Aided by the COVID-19 Lockdown

The COVID-19 global pandemic has had a devastating impact on casinos and sportsbook operators for a variety of reasons.

The closure of casinos for three months resulted in huge financial losses, and the shutdown of the world of live sports meant that sports fans had very little to wager on during that period. However, Stevens said that the lockdown did help to bring the launch date for its sportsbook facility forward. He said:

First, I couldn’t get all the construction workers up into the towers. So, we reallocated resources to the lower five floors and took advantage of that. Second was noise regulations downtown. The noise restrictions went away because, with the pandemic, nobody was around.

He added that because of this, workers were able to do extra shifts, and that meant that the timeline could be accelerated. As a result, certain parts of the resort, such as the sportsbook, could be brought forward and would now be ready two months earlier.

The sportsbook will launch in the middle of football season, which Stevens said he is very excited about. He added that many people had expressed excitement over the opening of the sportsbook and that it had given people something fun and exciting to look forward to.

A Great Experience for Sports Betting Fans

When the sportsbook facility opens in October, it will offer an exciting and impressive experience to sports fans who visit the resort. There will be a stadium with a seating capacity for 350 people, and the facility will be spread across three floors.

It will include standard booths as well as VIP areas, and the overall capacity including standing room will be 1,000. In addition, there will be a huge video wall for an immersive experience for sports fans.

Stevens said that those visiting the sportsbook facility once it opened would be able to enjoy the full in-person experience. He also said that he hopes that the opening of the facility will help the Downtown area and the city in general to get back on track after the devastation caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
