BetMGM has just launched its mobile betting service in West Virginia, after partnering up with The Greenbrier, one of the most prestigious resorts in the state. This means that they’ve launched just in time to take bets on the Super Bowl, which takes place on Sunday.

Speaking about the launch, Scott Butera, MGM Resorts‘ president of interactive gaming, stated:

We are pleased to be operating in West Virginia and partnering with The Greenbrier, a historic grand hotel and one of the most storied landmarks in the United States.

The launch means that BetMGM now operates in two states, with the other being New Jersey. It brings the number of mobile sportsbooks in West Virginia to three. The Greenbrier already has a partnership with FanDuel, while DraftKings is allied with the Charles Town casino. There will also probably be another mobile sportsbook soon as well, as Delaware North have signed an agreement with IGT and Genius Sports to offer betting in West Virginia.

The app being offered by BetMGM to those in West Virginia offers a number of features, including in-play betting, streamed sports events and many promotions. It is possible to bet on a whole variety of different sports, including football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey and soccer.

It is possible to download the BetMGM app for free in West Virginia for both iOS and Android devices. It is also possible to access the sportsbook using a desktop. There’s no need to sign up in-person in West Virginia, so anyone can start betting online or using a mobile, regardless of where they are in the state.

BetMGM Also Moving into NV and IN

The launch of BetMGM in West Virginia comes as the company tries to roll its product out across the country. They’ve been active in New Jersey for a while, however the move into West Virginia is the first time they’ve launched outside of the Garden State. When compared to some other sports betting companies, BetMGM have expanded their reach pretty slowly.

There should also be another couple of states offering sports betting from BetMGM coming soon. The first is Nevada, with the company hopeful that they’ll open their virtual doors there in time for March Madness. They’ve also recently received a temporary license in Indiana, although they’ve not stated when they hope to launch there.

BetMGM Hoping to Boost Figures

There’s no doubting the fact that BetMGM will be hoping that their launch in West Virginia boosts the company, as their figures in New Jersey have been less than impressive. They’d hoped to have a 10%-15% market share in the state by March, however at the moment they’ve only managed to grab around 7.7% of betting revenue.

There is hope that a deal recently signed with Yahoo Sports will lead to this boost in bettors that the company needs though. Yahoo Sports – an incredibly popular site with sports fans in the United States – now offers readers the chance to click through to BetMGM, where they’ll then be able to create an account, deposit some cash and starting placing bets.
