About Midtown Sports Grille Hotel

The establishment’s humble roots trace back to 1985. Back then, it was known as Throwbacks Sports Bar. It was renamed Midtown Sports Grille when Frank Silverman bought the place in 2017. The new proprietor also set plans in motion to add new services as a way of increasing its revenue – one of which off-track betting on horse racing.

The journey towards an OTB license has not been without its hurdles. Midtown Sports Grille’s closed its OTB dog racing service in 2016 following an Arizona State ban on such activities. In the following years, the venue applied for an OTB license twice and was denied twice, before finally receiving approval in 2019, as part of a partnership deal with Turf Paradise and Rillito Park Race Track.

The tasty chicken wings are especially popular among patrons, but there are also burgers, salads, BBQ, pretzels, onion rings, and much more – all at affordable prices. The drinks are also quite varied. Besides popular brands of beer, there are craft beverages, cocktails and hard liquor.
