About Twin River Hotel
Before it became a Casino Resort, Twin River Casino Hotel was known as Lincoln Downs, which opened back in 1947 and was a racetrack with a capacity of nearly 8000 spectators. Due to overwhelming losses, the location was closed in 1976. Later on, the racetrack was named Lincoln Greyhound Park and it began its first season of greyhound racing in 1977.
In 2007 the owners of the location, BLB, made an expansion under the new name Twin River Casino and it cost them around $220 million. Due to financial issues in 2009, BLB filed for bankruptcy protection advising that for the casino to survive, greyhound racing had to be stopped. Over the years the company stabilized, the casino changed hands and started adding live table games, a dedicated poker room, constructed a four-story hotel in 2017 and in November 2018, it opened the first sportsbook in the state.
