Many sports and racing fans will be getting increasingly excited about the first F1 Grand Prix event that is set to take place in Las Vegas in mid-November.

A lot of people will be keen to attend so they can immerse themselves in the action, place bets, and enjoy being a part of F1 history. However, the packages so far have been extremely expensive, which has left many people out of the loop when it comes to enjoying this thrilling sports event in person.

Affordable F1 Packages Unveiled at Resorts

It has now been revealed that a number of Las Vegas casino resorts have unveiled more affordable F1 Grand Prix packages, with a number of new viewing options being offered by the Palms and Ellis Island casino resorts.

While the two properties are not located directly on the famous Las Vegas Strip, they do have areas that face the F1 circuit that will be running through Las Vegas Boulevard. This could make attending the event far more affordable for many sports fans.

Breaking Even on the Costs

There are suggestions that some of the new more affordable deals from the hotels could mean that they only break even rather than turn a profit. This is because of the high fees being demanded by Formula 1.

Ellis Island is offering seats with food for $1,500 per person, which is considerably cheaper than some of the main Strip options. There are also a few additional fees, including $135 state entertainment tax, a $9.96 service fee, and a $56.23 processing fee.

Formula 1 has been demanding a crippling $1,500 fee per person from the casino resorts that are offering packages and seats for viewing. This is something that F1 is demanding from every business that has a view of the track.

According to reports, F1 officials have said that businesses that do not pay up will have views blocked using a variety of methods, such as barricades, stands, and lights.

If this is the case, Ellis Island will not actually make any money from its packages, as the $1,500 per person will be entirely eaten up by the F1 fees.

The other fees charged are for processing and taxes, so the resort will not even make small amounts of profit. In fact, the operators offering cheaper packages could end up losing out, as they also have to provide food as part of the deal.

According to sportswriter Scott Roeben:

Interestingly, F1 has been strong-arming Strip venues for $1,500 a person to license views of the race. If venues don’t pony up, F1 reps ‘have warned that obstructions like barricades, stands and light stanchions could end up ruining the race for their customers’.

Although some of the packages on the main Strip come at eyewatering prices, a huge chunk of the amount paid per person could end up in the hands of F1 if the fees go ahead as reported. For the smaller resorts off the Strip, the price of the tickets per person will just about cover the fees being charged by F1.
