The choice of online sportsbooks options for sports betting fans in Virginia is set to grow this week, as Unibet joins the lineup of operators in the state. The sportsbook operator will become the seventh in the state with the launch expected mid-week.

The operator was granted its direct market access sports betting license by the state lottery just a week ago, and Virginia is the fourth state where the Europe-based sportsbook will be able to take wagers. The big sportsbook operator names are already live in Virginia, and these include William Hill, FanDuel, and DraftKings, among others.

Keen to Continue Expansion Across the Country

An official from Unibet said that the operator was very excited about the up-and-coming launch of the sportsbook. Unibet has plans to continue expanding across the nation, and this latest launch will bring it one step closer to achieving its goals.

Kindred Group senior vice president Manuel Stan said:

We are excited to add Virginia to the growing list of states that Unibet and Kindred Group call home as we continue our expansion in the U.S. market.

He added that the operator was confident that the success it had experienced in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Indiana would also be experienced in Virginia. With more and more people using online sports betting platforms, the operator is looking forward to a successful launch this week.

The operator will be opening an office in Virginia, which will become its third hub along with its offices in New York and New Jersey. Mr. Stan said that the operator was very grateful that it had received its license, and that it was looking forward to continuing expansion in what he described as the ‘biggest gambling market in the world’.

Since being launched earlier this year, sports betting in Virginia has really taken off. At present, there is only digital sports betting available. However, figures show that in the past few months since the launch, close to $630 million in bets has been placed across the state.

Enjoying Success from Popularity of Digital Sports Betting

The state is enjoying huge success with its sports betting market thanks to the growing popularity of digital sports betting. Many people have become keen online bettors in the past year, with the popularity of online sports betting and gambling rocketing during the peak of the pandemic when casinos and retail sportsbook operators across the nation were closed.

While sports betting in Virginia was only launched a few months ago, the pandemic meant that people were looking for a way to entertain themselves from home. This meant that the operators that went live during the launch got off to a great start with many sports fans ready and waiting to place their bets.

More operators are also expected to join the lineup in the state, which means that the choice of sportsbooks will continue to grow. So, sports fans in Virginia will be able to enjoy even more choice as the number of operators increases.
