The TwinSpires online sportsbook is now live in the Colorado sports betting market. The sportsbook launched in the state just over a week ago, which means that it has gone live ahead of the eagerly awaited Kentucky Derby.

The announcement was made at the weekend by TwinSpires, just days after the operator launched rebranded sportsbooks in two other states, Indiana and Pennsylvania. TwinSpires, which is owned by Churchill Downs, hopes to continue its expansion over the coming year, as it looks to make inroads into the US sports betting market.

Launching Great Offers for Customers

TwinSpires decided to mark its Colorado launch by offering bettors a great sign-up promotion that can get them $1,000 in bonus bets. The operator hopes that this will encourage sports fans to get on board and help the sportsbook to achieve the success that it is hoping for in the year-old Colorado sports betting market.

Ian Williams, president of TwinSpires, said:

We are excited to offer our state-of-the-art sportsbook app and market leading promotions in Colorado a week out from our biggest event of the year, the Kentucky Derby.

He added that being backed by Churchill Downs, which is the home of the famous Kentucky Derby, meant that the operator could use its nearly 150 years of wagering history to ensure sports fans benefitted from a superior sports betting experience in Colorado.

The sports betting market in Colorado was only launched in May last year, and this was at the height of the first wave of COVID-19. Despite the chaos caused by the global pandemic, the sports betting market in the state got off to a strong start and has maintained excellent success levels.

TwinSpires joins a number of other key operators already providing access to betting in the state. The timing is great, as it means the operator is just in time for the Kentucky Derby, which takes place on the first Saturday in May.

Officials from Churchill Downs said that this was the only operator in the state with which fans could place bets on sports and the Run for the Roses next Saturday.

The success of the betting market in the state since sportsbooks became available there around a year ago means that the operator can look forward to plenty of interest from sports fans and the chance to make its mark in the state.

While Colorado, like most other states with legal sports betting, did see a decline in sports wagering in February, this is thought to have been partly down to the shorter month. Apart from this dip, sports betting activity in the state has remained strong since the market went live last May.

Rebranding from BetAmerica

At the start of this year, Churchill Downs revealed that it was changing from its BetAmerica brand to TwinSpires. Rebranding has already taken place at some locations and will continue at others over the course of this year. Many are set to rebrand before the first half of this year comes to an end.
