The mobile betting options in Tennessee are set to expand for sports fans with the addition of a new sportsbook. This comes after several applications from sportsbooks were approved by the Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Committee last month, with the accepted applications coming from Bally Bet, Betly, and SuperBook.

While the launch dates for Bally Bet and Betly are unknown, it has been announced that the SuperBook sportsbook will go live in the state this month.

The operator already has mobile sportsbooks in operation in four states, plus it also owns what is known as the ‘World’s Largest Sportsbook’ in Las Vegas, located at the Westgate. It also has another location in Colorado.

Sportsbooks in Tennessee Set to Increase to Thirteen

Once all three of the approved sportsbooks have gone live, the number of mobile sportsbook operators in the state will rise to thirteen. This means even more choice for the many sports fans in the state and will also have a positive impact on finances for the state.

According to a report on PlayUSA:

SuperBook Director of Audit and Compliance Linda Tobin told the SWAC that the company wanted to launch in April. A visit to the SuperBook website shows the announcement that it will be live in Tennessee soon.

While the SuperBook sportsbook looks set to go live very soon, it could be a longer wait for the other two approved operators, according to PlayUSA. Bally Bet has said that its offering should be available by the end of this year or the early part of next year. Betly claims that its sportsbook should be ready for the end of this year.

So, although it could still be another eight or so months before the state has the full quota of thirteen sportsbook operators, the list could start to expand this month if all goes to plan with the SuperBook sportsbook.

Sports Betting Market in Tennessee Remains Strong

Even without the new additions, the sports betting market in Tennessee remains strong. The existing sportsbooks in the state saw a handle of more than $386 million in January this year and took $23 million in wagers on the Super Bowl alone.

The tax rate charged by the state stands at 20 percent, which is far lower than in states such as New York where the tax rate is set at a staggering 51 percent. The 20 percent tax revenues from sports betting in Tennessee are put toward a number of key services, but the vast majority goes toward educational resources in the state.

The state offers only online sports betting, but with most people turning to their computers and devices to place bets these days, it has managed to do very well out of this offering.

The popularity of online and mobile sports betting has rocketed over recent years, particularly since the onset of the global pandemic. Many people turned to online sportsbooks during the height of the pandemic, and the popularity of this method of betting has continued.
