Many months after online sports betting was launched in Colorado, sports betting operator SuperBook has finally launched in the state. The sportsbook now offers a retail sports betting facility and an online sportsbook in Colorado, giving sports fans even more choice when it comes to placing bets.

Colorado launched online sports betting at the start of May 2020, which was in the midst of the first wave of the global pandemic.

As a result of COVID-19, many people were turning to online sportsbooks, so the launch in Colorado came at a very good time for the industry, given that brick and mortar facilities were temporarily closed down at the time.

The launch of SuperBook in the state means that there are now 17 different sports betting operators in Colorado. It is also the second state in which the sportsbook now operates, as it already has an established presence in Nevada. In addition, officials from SuperBook have said that it now intends to target the New Jersey online sports betting market as it continues to expand.

Partnering with The Lodge Casino

SuperBook has partnered with The Lodge Casino in Black Hawk to offer its retail sports betting facility. It also provides access to people across the state with its online offering.

Sports betting in Colorado has proven to be hugely popular. Officials from SuperBook said that the operator is very excited about providing services within the state, despite the tough competition from other operators.

A senior official from SuperBook, Jay Kornegay, said that he believed that The Lodge is a perfect fit for their initial expansion outside of Las Vegas, before praising the SuperBook product, stating:

We have maintained the highest levels of technology and service in a highly regulated industry. We have written the playbook on sports betting in the United States and now we will put it in action in Colorado.

The operator has made it clear that it wants to expand further across the United States, with its next goal being to launch in New Jersey.

Fierce Competition in Colorado

Officials from SuperBook have acknowledged that the competition in Colorado from other sportsbooks is fierce. There are now 17 sportsbooks offering online sports betting, which includes the new offering from SuperBook. However, the operator believes that with a superior offering and a commitment to service and experience, it is well-positioned to compete effectively with rivals in Colorado.

In the meantime, the impact of the second wave of the global pandemic remains to be seen. With infection and death rates soaring once again, there is a risk that casinos and retail sportsbooks could be closed down once again. There is also a chance that live sports events could be affected for a while, just as they were during the first wave.

While the closure of casinos will have an impact on retail sportsbooks in Colorado, operators can recoup some losses through the provision of their online sports betting facilities. This is something that will help to minimize the impact of further lockdowns and closures.
