It has been revealed that the Soaring Eagle Casino in Michigan is set to start offering sports betting facilities early next year. There are already 14 casinos across the state that offer sports betting, so the new facility at Soaring Eagle will add to the options that sports fans in Michigan already have when it comes to placing bets.

The casino hopes to launch the new sports betting facility in January 2021, and the move comes ahead of online gambling being launched in the state. As part of the move, the casino, which is the largest in Michigan, will rename its sports bar, currently simply called Ascend. Following the launch, it will become the Ascend Sportsbook and Lounge.

An Enhanced Experience for Casino Patrons

Soaring Eagle Casino is owned by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, and so far, they have not given any indication on the technology company they will be using. However, they have confirmed that they hope to start taking bets at the start of the year.

The addition of the sportsbook means that patrons of the casino will be able to enjoy an enhanced experience. The casino already offers a wide range of casino games for gamblers to enjoy, and they believe the addition of the sports betting facility will thrill sports fans and gamblers who frequent the casino.

Mike Bean, the CEO of the casino, said:

We will be upgrading Ascend, an already great venue, to accommodate sports betting. Changes will include more televisions, betting kiosks, a betting window, and a ticker tape. The improvements will be in phases, initially starting with kiosk betting until the betting window modifications are complete.

Officials from Soaring Eagle Casino also said that they will be using their own branding for both online casino gaming and sports betting, once they are both launched.

More Michigan Casinos Coming on Board with Sports Betting Facilities

There are also a number of other casinos in Michigan that are planning to launch retail sports betting facilities. So, the Soaring Eagle will not be the only gaming facility planning to provide a sportsbook for fans across the state.

Several other venues, including the sister property of the Soaring Eagle, have also announced plans to open sportsbook facilities. These include the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel in Stanish, as well as Mount Pleasant’s Slot Place and Bingo Hall.

For sports fans, the addition of new retail sportsbooks across the state will come as great news after the difficult situation faced earlier this year.

Many sports fans were left without entertainment or wagering opportunities because of the closures relating to COVID-19. This resulted in casinos being forced to close for a number of months and the world of live sports grinding to a halt.

With the increased number of sportsbooks planned for the coming year, sports fans can enjoy plenty of choices when it comes to placing bets. Their options will be further expanded when online sports betting and casino gaming are launched in the state.
