Buffalo Wild Wings have recently announced that they will be partnering up with MGM and Roar Digital (MGM’s digital partner) to begin encouraging sports betting from Buffalo Wild Wins restaurants.

Lyle Tick – the president of Buffalo Wild Wings – said:

“The conversation surrounding sports betting heated up very quickly. Sports betting provides us with an opportunity to continue to build the community and engagement that is so much a part of what we do.”

What’s the Plan?

Initially, there won’t be any betting terminals or betting kiosks at Buffalo Wild Wings locations – the brand will instead begin by focusing on offering a free game (also known as demo-mode betting) and this will be provided directly by MGM’s digital part of its operation. The free play betting area will be located in the Buffalo Wild Wings’ Blazing Rewards app, and it will apparently be called Picks and Props.

As of next Thursday, the app will be available to punters nationwide, and the app will be available to play from anywhere – although fans will need to physically check into a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at least once between Thursday and Sunday in order to be in with a chance of claiming prizes.

At the time of writing, the app is available only in states where sports betting is now legal. This means the app can be downloaded in 19 states – 13 of which are currently operational. Some of the main perks of the program include better-than-normal odds and a handy, easy-to-use and easy-to-navigate user interface. Adam Greenblatt – the CEO of Road Digital – went on to tell reporters that the sportsbook has been reinvented. He reiterated the fact that – today – many punters are looking for ways to place bets from their mobile devices, and that his company will continue to build end-to-end products which rely on the latest, state-of-the-art technological advancements.

A New Way to Bet?

Ever since the US Supreme Court struck down the archaic laws surrounding sports betting and online gambling last year, we’ve seen operators from all corners of the globe looking to capitalize on the anticipated billion-dollar industry. We’re likely to see this kind of promo rolled out across many states – particularly those where sports betting (and online gambling) is legal.

For example, while not strictly related, we have already seen a number of land-based established businesses add sports betting terminals to their premises. This is usually found in land-based casinos, but we have seen it prevalent in sports arenas and stadiums too. Mobile apps appear to be the future, however, and it’s evident that punters are looking to be able to place bets simply and easily from their mobile devices.

While online gambling laws in the USA are still complex, more states are looking towards loosening the laws and regulations surrounding betting from computers and mobile devices – and as we see more states roll out pro-online gambling laws, it’s very likely we’ll see even more mobile betting apps appearing in the marketplace.
