Week 6 kicked off with the Philadelphia Eagles traveling to New York to take on the Giants on Thursday Night Football. The Eagles were coming off their first loss of the season against the Denver Broncos, while the Giants were looking to bounce back after their fourth loss of the season against the New Orleans Saints. The NFC East divisional matchup kicked off with the Eagles receiving the ball, going straight to their great running back, Saquon Barkley. Saquon totaled 31 rushing yards on the opening drive, on just 2 carries. The Eagles’ offense stalled around the Giants’ 25-yard line, forcing them to bring out the field goal unit. Kicker Jake Elliott split the uprights on a 42-yard field goal to give the Eagles an early 3-0 lead.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and the Giants offense then took the field looking to respond. Facing a 3rd down and 12, Dart was able to find Lil’ Jordan Humphrey for a big 34-yard gain, extending the drive. A short run from rookie running back Cam Skattebo set up New York in the red zone. The Giants were able to cash in, with Jaxson Dart scrambling for a 20-yard touchdown run, putting the Giants up 7-3. As the Eagles offense took the field, the Giants defense rose to the occasion. Brian Burns came up with a huge third-down sack, forcing a three-and-out and giving the ball back to Dart and the offense.

The New York offense stayed rolling with Jaxson Dart completing another big pass, this time to wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson for a 26-yard gain. Just two plays later, Dart and Robinson connected again, this time for a 35-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 13-3. Philadelphia needed to get some kind of offense going on their next drive, and they did. Quarterback Jalen Hurts found his best wide receiver, A.J. Brown, for a big 30-yard gain, bringing the Eagles all the way to midfield. Hurts kept rolling, completing his next four passes, 1 to DeVonta Smith and 3 to tight end Dallas Goedert. The 3rd pass to Goedert was a 3-yard touchdown pass, bringing the Eagles back down to only 10-13.

The Philadelphia defense was finally able to get a stop, forcing the Giants into a 3-and-out. Hurts and the Eagles offense took the ball to start the 2nd quarter. Jalen Hurts got hot, finding Smith for a 16-yard gain and following it up with another 16-yard gain to Brown. He kept the drive going by finding Jahan Dotson for a 17-yard gain. Once Philadelphia got down to the 3-yard line, they ran the tush push, not once, not twice, not three times, FOUR consecutive plays they ran the tush push, and Hurts was finally able to run it in for a touchdown. The Giants got the ball back down 17-13. Jaxson Dart kept making plays, completing 5 passes on the drive and bringing them all the way down to the Eagles’ 4-yard line. New York went to Skattebo for a 4-yard touchdown, regaining the lead to go into halftime, up 20-17.

The second half started with both teams trading 3-and-outs with punts. The Giants were then able to put together a good drive running the ball with Dart and Skattebo for a 56-yard drive that took them down to the goal line. Here, Skattebo was able to punch in his second rushing touchdown of the game, extending the Giants’ lead to 27-17. Following the score, the Eagles’ offense couldn’t get anything going. Their drive ended with Brian Burns getting another big 3rd down sack on Jalen Hurts, forcing yet another Philadelphia punt. The Giants had all the momentum, and Jaxson Dart was dealing. He threw the ball all over the field on the following drive, finding 3 different receivers. Dart eventually tried to make some magic happen and ended up getting sacked and hurt. Dart ended up going into the blue tent with a possible injury, forcing the Giants to send in backup quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson failed to get anything going and set up the Giants for a punt.

The Eagles’ offense was still slow, going 3 and out yet again, giving the ball right back to the Giants. The good news for New York was that Dart was going to be ok, coming back into the game the following drive. However, Dart couldn’t keep the same momentum going, having two incomplete passes and bringing out the punt team. With the Eagles offense retaking the field, Hurts found DeVonta Smith for a 16-yard gain. He then targeted Smith again, this time drawing a pass interference call to set up Philadelphia at the New York 25-yard line. Now in the red zone, Hurts was looking for Jahan Dotson, where the pass was intercepted by Giants cornerback Cor’Dale Flott. He was able to return the interception 68 yards, bringing the ball all the way down to the Philadelphia 23-yard line. This time it only took the Giants 3 plays to set up another Cam Skattebo rushing touchdown, his third of the game. The Giants now had a commanding 34-17 lead in a game that the Eagles were 7.5-point favorites.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles took the field, needing a score to stay in the game. A couple of passes brought them into Giants territory. Hurts completed a short pass to running back A.J. Dillon, where he ended up fumbling the ball, which was recovered by New York. The fumble seemed to be the nail in the coffin for the Eagles, giving the Giants the ball back down 17. New York ended up running down the field with Skattebo, setting them up for victory formation, taking a 34-17 win.

The Giants improve to 2-4, as Jaxson Dart threw for 195 yards and scored 2 touchdowns, 1 through the air and 1 on the ground. Cam Skattebo had a great night, rushing for 98 yards and 3 touchdowns. New York will head to Denver next week to take on the Broncos. As for Philadelphia, they fall to 4-2 on the season, as costly turnovers told the story here. The Eagles will travel to Minnesota next week to take on the Vikings, with hopes to break their 2-game losing streak.
