It has been revealed that sportsbook giant DraftKings could be bringing sports betting to bars in the Detroit area, should they receive approval. The operator is eager to launch venues that offer an exciting and unique experience to sports fans in the area. However, this will all be subject to approval by state regulators.

The operator wants to introduce the concept to both Detroit and Nashville to start with. Depending on their success, this could then be extended to other states and areas. Currently, after Detroit, the main objective will be to launch the DraftKings sportsbook in New York as there already is a huge fanbase waiting.

The company is partnering with the venue provider Sports & Social in order to bring these venues to the areas and claims that the venues will provide ‘an upscale, premier sports and entertainment experience’ for fans.

A Great Experience for Sports Fans

The new lounges could help to boost sports betting activity in the areas where they are set up, which could mean great news for both the sportsbook operator and for state finances.

Ezra Kucharz, the chief business officer at DraftKings, said:

Today, so much of sports betting is focused on the mobile-technology aspect, however, the in-person experience is an integral layer that we look forward to advancing alongside Sports & Social’s premier dining and entertainment offerings.

If the new lounges are given the green light, they could provide sports fans with the chance to enjoy a relaxing and fun environment where they can watch the latest games and place bets on their favorite sports and teams. This can provide them with a unique experience and could encourage more people to visit the venues and place bets.

The sportsbook operator already has a presence in 14 states across the country and offers both online and retail sportsbook facilities. Partnering with Sports & Social will enable the operator to add a new level to its offerings and provide sports fans with an even more exciting experience.

Kucharz went on to say that by partnering with what he described as ‘one of the fastest-growing entertainment concepts in the country’ the operator had the chance to offer world-class products and provide fans with an engaging and interactive experience that puts fans first.

Helping to Boost Sports Betting Activity

If the lounges go ahead and prove to be a hit, they could help to make a big difference to sports betting in the area.

Many people may visit the lounges because it gives them a chance to relax and enjoy viewing their favorite sports, and this could prompt them to place bets when they may not have wagered anything normally.

Officials from DraftKings said that the sports betting market at the moment is very focused on digital technology and the mobile experience.

However, the operator said that providing an exciting in-person experience was crucial, and this is something they hope to do with the launch of the lounges. These will offer not only the chance to view and bet on sports but also dining and other facilities for visitors to enjoy.
