Boston is ready for a war in the NBA Finals after consecutive seven-game thrillers against Milwaukee in the conference semi-finals and Miami in the conference finals. Although the less rested of the two teams, Boston quickly showed this was not an issue, stealing game one on the road.
Another seven game battle looks likely after Boston won one of two in San Francisco, only for the Warriors to return the favor in the Garden. To win without going to a third consecutive seven-game series, the Celtics need to win on the road again in game five.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have led the Celtics to two dominant wins in the four games so far. The size advantage of Boston combined with excellent defense has been hard for all of Golden State to deal with, with the exception of Curry who has been lights out from distance all series.
Steph Curry is the recently crowned defensive player of the year and has had his work cut out for him so far this season, but perimeter defense is going to remain the most important factor if Boston is to take the win on the road.
Golden State dominated the boards in game four, something that Boston needs to change to pick up a game five victory. On the offensive end, Brown, Tatum, and the supporting cast need to use their size and play the inside-outside game that worked so well in games one and three.

Steph Curry has been a different beast throughout the playoffs and his 43 points in game four led the Warriors to victory with help from Andrew Wiggins’ 17 points and 16 rebounds. Poole and Thompson also stepped up in game four after a relatively quiet series so far.
As long as Steph keeps being Steph in the way he has in the first four games, the Warriors are going to have a chance. However, the rest of the team is going to need to step up so Steph doesn’t have to score 40+ in order for a win to come to Golden State.
Defensively, the Warriors will have to deal with a likely Boston run early. Boston have not lost two straight games throughout the playoffs, and a strong defensive outing from Golden State may be the only thing that can stop that streak.
