With sports betting becoming increasingly popular across the United States, many operators have taken advantage of the growing number of new markets. In the past couple of years, many states have legalized sports betting, and this has provided operators with a means of expanding their footprint across the country.

One of the operators that is now in the throes of expanding across the nation is Bet365, and in a recent move, the operator has been approved for a sports betting license in Arizona. Regulators from the Arizona Department of Gaming have given the green light to Bet365 to partner with the Ak-Chin Indian Nation.

Bidding on Sports Betting Permits

Earlier this year, the Arizona Department of Gaming announced that bidding was set to open for three new sports betting permits in the state. Two of these were linked to professional sports teams in the state, while the third was to partner with the Ak-Chin Indian Nation.

The Ak-Chin Indian Nation was left without a partner last year as a result of Fubo closing its sports betting operations. Following approval for Bet365, the Ak-Chin Nation will now partner with the operator as part of the new agreement.

A statement from the ADG read:

The application window for event wagering licenses opened on August 1, 2023, and closed on August 15, 2023. Applicants were required to submit their completed applications within this timeframe in order to have been considered for an event wagering license.

No information was given in the statement with regard to the other two sports betting permits that were up for grabs. There was also no mention of whether other operators in addition to Bet365 placed bids to partner with the Ak-Chin Indian Nation.

Expanding Footprint in the United States

This latest move has enabled the operator to move forward with its plans to expand across the United States.

It is the 17th sportsbook operator in the state and will be offering betting facilities alongside big names such as FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM, among others. It will prove beneficial for the operator to launch in Arizona, as this is considered a very attractive sports betting market for sportsbooks.

Along with Arizona, Kentucky is another recent addition for Bet365, which is a UK-based company. It already operates in New Jersey, Colorado, and Ohio, with market access in Pennsylvania. With the latest license approval, the operator will be able to continue its expansion.

The sports betting market in the United States has become an extremely competitive one, with many operators vying for customers in each state where betting has been legalized. The two leading operators across the nation are FanDuel and DraftKings, and there are also other key operators such as BetMGM, which has accrued an impressive market share.

Many experts believe that Bet365 will be able to make an impact on the sports betting market in the United States and will be able to compete with some of the major players. The company dates back to 2000 and now has around 90 million customers worldwide.
