World Number 1 Scottie Scheffler is every sportsbook’s favorite ahead of the 2023 US Open Golf Championship at the Los Angeles Country Club in California. That is likely true across the best online golf betting sites in the world. Scheffler recently reclaimed the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) after he nabbed top-five finishes in the last four tournaments. His rival, Jon Rahm, faltered in recent competitions and slid down to second on the chart.

Scheffler is the favorite despite winning only two out of 12 tournaments this year. The 26-year-old won the 2023 Phoenix Open in February at the TPC Scottsdale – Stadium Course. A month after that win, Scheffler emerged on top for the second time this year, which happened at the Players Stadium Course. However, he could not replicate that performance in the year’s first Major. Scheffler could only muster a T10 finish at the Augusta Masters.

After failing to defend his only Major title so far, Scheffler came quite close to winning the second Major of the year. He shot a splendid 5-under par 65 but finished two strokes behind Brooks Koepka at the 2023 PGA Championship. After that, the 26-year-old featured in the Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Golf Course and the Memorial Tournament at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. He finished third in both.

Several top sportsbooks like Bet365, BetMGM, BetWay, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, and more have picked Scheffler as the top favorite to win the 2023 US Open Golf Championship. If that happens, the current World Number 1 will lift the second Major title of his career and the first one this year. Furthermore, the top three picks for almost every top sportsbook are the same and include Scheffler, Rahm, and Koepka.

In 2021, Rahm won the 121st edition of the US Open to lift his career’s first-ever Major title. The Spaniard doubled that tally earlier this year at the season’s first Major in Augusta. But since then, his performances have been quite inconsistent, due to which he also lost the World Number 1 spot to Scheffler. Rahm will be desperate to secure a good finish in California to stay hot at the heels of his rival in the OWGR.

Miles behind these two, Koepka is also amongst the top favorites at the 123rd edition of the US Open. Ranked 13th in the OWGR, Koepka bagged his fifth Major title at the 2023 PGA Championship. It could have been a sixth, but the 33-year-old had to settle for second place at the Augusta Masters. Koepka won the US Open in 2017 and successfully defended his title in 2018. He has already completed a hattrick of PGA Championships, with another on the cards.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy is looking for his first Major title since 2014. His last win at the US Open came over ten years ago, in 2011. His best finish in a Major since 2014 came at the Augusta Masters last year, where he finished second. The Masters is the only Major McIlroy has never won, as he narrowly missed out on completing a Grand Slam in 2022. Despite having the fourth-best odds, his chances of winning the 2023 US Open are relatively low.

Golfers like Viktor Hovland, Xander Schauffele, and Jordan Spieth have a better chance of finishing ahead of McIlroy. Hovland will be coming into this tournament after winning the 2023 Memorial Tournament. The current World Number 5 turned professional almost four years ago but is yet to win a Major. He came close at the PGA Championship this year but finished T2 to secure his best-ever finish at a Major.

2023 US Open Golf Championship: Best Betting Sites

When it comes to the best betting sites for sports, Bet365 is among the leaders. They have the best live betting functionality and the best odds. However, the user interface is not its best feature, and there is also a slight possibility that limits could be imposed on the winnings if your pick wins.

Betfair offers a daily odds boost on its platform with great payment options. It is one of the leading betting exchanges in the world with various markets. But most of its cons come during transactions. The sportsbook levies a fee off bank transfer withdrawals and charges commission on exchange transactions.

Paddy Power offers various golf betting markets, including pre-match wagering and in-play (live) betting, with the option of cashing out. Wagers on golf give users exclusive rewards in Paddy’s Rewards Club. These rewards can include bonuses or free bets. Paddy Power has a decent user interface on its website and mobile app.
