The 2023 Men’s NCAA tournament, aka ‘March Madness,’ is less than a fortnight away. This piece will provide a brief overview of the tournament, along with all the important dates and times, so that you can follow all the action and place a few wagers along the way on the best basketball betting sites.

Tournament Overview

In the coming weeks, 68 of the top college basketball sides in the country will go toe-to-toe to be crowned as the best. Out of the 68 teams, 32 teams will get bids automatically filled, and 36 will get bids issued ‘at-large.’ Let’s now take a brief look at the times with the strongest chance of winning the tournament.

Contenders

Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas are the defending champions and have been a top-five side this year. They’ve got a 25-4 win-loss record this season, along with some big wins over the likes of Duke, Indiana, Iowa State, Texas, Baylor, and TCU.

They had a little slip-up midseason where they lost three games on the bounce, but their record has been great outside that little blip.

Houston Cougars

Houston will end the regular season with the best record and could become the first winners from the American conference if they keep these performances up in March Madness.

They’ve only lost two games all season, which is quite remarkable – they’ve managed this without a superstar, which is even more impressive. Their path to the latter stages is also a lot easier than some of the other teams that’ll be mentioned on this list.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Their path to the finals will be harder than most other teams, but they’ve shown this season that they can get some big scalps. They’ve got a 24-5 win-loss record this season, which includes wins over Michigan State, North Carolina, Houston, and Arkansas.

Purdue Boilermakers

For the first three-quarters of the season, they were undoubtedly the top college basketball team in the country. Their form has dropped a little in recent weeks, but they’re still a big threat and have Zach Edey on their books, the best player in the NCAA this season.

Players Focus

Let’s now look at some of the players who are worth keeping an eye on.

Zach Edey

The 7 feet 4 inches tall center has been a sensation all year. Most of the star talents in the league are big, but no one is bigger and better than Edey. He has put in some colossal two-way displays, which are reflected in his stats.

He has averaged 22.1 points per game, with a field goal rate of 61.6%. He has also averaged 13.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Teams have struggled to handle him all season, and it will be fascinating to see if they have some tricks up their sleeve to mitigate his impact in March Madness.

Jalen Wilson

Wilson is still the go-to guy for Kansas. He hasn’t been very efficient this season with his shooting – he has averaged 19.6 points per game with a field goal rate of 41.7%, but always puts up healthy numbers.

Dajuan Harris Jr. shares some of the playmaking load, which is why Wilson can just focus on his strengths. Wilson has also averaged 8.3 rebounds per game this season. It’s only a matter of time before an NBA side comes calling for his signature.

Trayce Jackson-Davis

Indiana’s inconsistencies shouldn’t take away from the remarkable season that Tryace Jackson-Davis is currently having. No team is as reliant as Indiana is on Jackson-Davis. He has averaged 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, 3.8 assists, and 20.3 points per game, with a field goal rate of 57.4%. Even if Indiana don’t go deep into March Madness, every game will be a treat with Jackson-Davis on the court.
