The official opening of the casino was in 1979. In 1985, there was another expansion of the property, and they added the 1100-seat Circus Maximus Showroom. In that showroom, they've held multiple boxing events. Next, in 1987 the name of the resort was officially changed to Caesars Atlantic City.
