Up until 2016, the track hosted races three times a week, which patrons could enjoy from the vantage position of their clubhouse table. Currently, the premium services are still available at the clubhouse, but the grace of the greyhounds remains accessible only through the screen. Still, the clean tables and rich selection of food and drinks should compensate for this.
As mentioned earlier, the track is currently not in operation. After the passing of House Bill 2127 in 2016, it ceased hosting greyhound races after 72 years of service. The last race was held on 25 June 2016, with the dogs being released for adoption in the aftermath. Up until that moment, it was the last track to sustain a continuous greyhound racing service in Arizona.

About Tucson Greyhound Park Hotel
Tucson Greyhound Park’s beginnings can be traced back to 1944. This is when the first race was hosted on the track, as part of a country-wide racing circuit owned by the Delaware North Company. The track has hosted six out of the 24 all-time leading greyhound winners, including No.1-spot JR’s Ripper (143 victories in total).
In 1981, the track was purchased by George Gillet who ran the place until 1989, when current owners Joseph Zappala and Roberto Consolo Jr. took over. With the change of ownership and new laws in Arizona, the track added an OTB service. It continues to provide it to this day. The establishment has four OTB sites under its umbrella.

Despite its historical significance, the OTB complex doesn’t have much to brag about in terms of luxurious add-ons. The clubhouse takes the lion’s share of premium services, with a bar and restaurant available for patrons. It has a capacity of 500 people and is often a venue of choice for weddings, reunions and corporate meetings.
The 3000-capacity grandstand is served by stalls that sell hot dogs, bottled water, fizzy drinks and beer. The grandstand faces north, ensuring a good shield from the baking sun for the best part of the day. Several big screens present the option of watching the races under the sky rather than indoors.
